Im Sung-geun's 3-Minute Onion Stir-fry.
Stir-fryingIngredients
- 2 onions (approximately 600g).
- 5 tablespoons of cooking oil.
- 2 tablespoons of tuna extract.
- 1/2 tablespoon of soy sauce.
- About a pinch (or two) of gochugaru (Korean chili powder).
- A pinch of toasted sesame seeds.
- 1 tablespoon of sesame oil.
Instructions
Slice the onion thinly, about 0.5 to 0.6 cm thick, following its layers. (It is recommended to use round and flat-shaped onions.)
In a pan, add 5 tablespoons of cooking oil and heat it until it just starts to smoke slightly.
Add the onions to the heated oil and quickly stir-fry over high heat for about 2 minutes.
Add 2 tablespoons of tuna extract for a richer umami flavor.
Place 0.5 tablespoons of minced garlic around the edges of the pan and cook to infuse the dish with a smoky flavor and aroma.
Immediately spread the sautéed onions on a large cutting board or plate to prevent them from overcooking and allow them to cool quickly from the residual heat.
Once the onion has cooled, add the gochugaru (Korean chili powder), sesame seeds, and sesame oil, and gently mix everything together to finish.
